11/08/2008  Empire Classic Cheer Championships - Fourteen Capital District Squads participated in the Empire Classic Cheer Competition. The competition, which was held at the Utica Auditorium in Utica NY, is a NY State Pop Warner event that raises money for charitable contributions to various causes (e.g. Make-A-Wish, Pop Warner Challenger, etc.).  Capital District squads performed very well bringing home five (5) Champion trophies, six (6) second place trophies, and one (1) third.

2008 Cheer Competition Results

10/20/2008  Northeast Regional Cheer Qualifier - Twenty-nine Capital District Cheer squads competed Saturday in the Northeast Regional Cheer Qualifier for Eastern Region. The competition, which was held at the Times Union Center in Albany NY, is the second step on the "Road to Disney" and the Pop Warner National Championships being held in December. The Capital District was well represented with twenty-one squads advancing to that final step on the magical road, the Eastern Region Championships. Please check back later this week for a list of the squads that will be taking the trip to Trenton NJ.

10/12/2008  CHEER COMPETITION - Ninety-five Cheer squads from the Capital District participated in the 2008 Capital District Pop Warner Cheer Competition. The competition took place on Sunday 10/12/2008 at the Times Union Center in Albany.

Twenty-nine squads advanced to the Northeast Qualifier for Eastern Region (10/18/2008 - Times Union Center - Albany, NY). Participating squads will be competing for an opportunity to continue their "Road to Disney" by advancing to the Eastern Region Championships (11/15-11/16/2008 - Sovereign Bank Arena - Trenton, NJ). 

Sixteen squads additional squads advanced from Capital District to the Empire State Classic Cheer Championships (11/08/2008 - Utica Aud - Utica, NY).

This is a tremendous accomplishment for the associations and for Capital District Pop Warner and I'm very proud of you!

11/23/2007  On November 17th and 18th, the Eastern Region held their 2007 Cheer Championships. Over 200 squads participated in 24 divisions with 47 squads earning the right to represent the Eastern Region at the Pop Warner National Cheer and Dance Championships at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FL. Capital District squads all performed well with 7 squads receiving placements including a 1st Place (Regional Champion) finish by the Guilderland Jr. Midget Small Intermediate squad and a 2nd place finish by the Rotterdam Jr. Midget Large Novice squad. Congratulations to all the participating squads, and good luck to the Guilderland and Rotterdam squads as they head to Walt Disney World next week.

They have less than one week to raise the funds necessary to make the trip to Orlando and the opportunity to represent the Capital District and Eastern Region at the Pop Warner National Cheer and Dance Championships. If you see them trying to fundraise PLEASE help them out... (I can't accept any funds through the website, but if you are interested in helping them, please send me an email and I'll put you in touch with both organizations.)

08/08/2007 Attention Cheer Coordinators - I know... we're only about 1 week into practices and we're already giving you reminders about competition. This year, all CDPW Cheer Competition related emails should be directed to cheercomp@cdpw.org this includes cheerleading related questions as well as question about event volunteers. Mail sent to this address will be directed to Neville as well as Sue Parrow (our Volunteer Coordinator).

Sue will be filling this role for both competitions (League on 10/14/2007, Regional Qualifier on 11/04/2007).  All questions and information relative to event volunteers should be directed to her at the cheercomp@cdpw.org address.
