2008 Cheer Competition

On August 1, over 4,000 Pop Warner Cheer and Dance squads from around the United States began preparation for the 2008 season.  The Capital District was no different; over 100 squads began conditioning, started new stunts, and began learning new dance routines and cheers in preparation for the season and the 2008 Capital District Pop Warner Cheerleading Competition.

Last year, was one of one of the best years so far for Capital District Pop Warner. Of the 38 squads advancing from the 2007 League event to the Eastern Region Qualifiers, 20 squads reached the Regional Championships in Trenton NJ. Over 200 squads participated in 24 divisions with 47 squads earning the right to represent the Eastern Region at the Pop Warner National Cheer and Dance Championships at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FL. Capital District squads all performed well with 7 squads receiving placements including a 1st Place (Regional Champion) finish by the Guilderland Jr. Midget Small Intermediate squad and a 2nd place finish by the Rotterdam Jr. Midget Large Novice squad.  Both squads represented the Eastern Region at the National Championships in Orlando 2 weeks later earning top 10 finishes in the respective divisions.

On Sunday October 12, 2008, more than 2,000 Pop Warner Cheerleaders representing 100 squads and 24 communities will come to The Times Union Center in Albany, NY to compete for an opportunity to start on the Road to Disney World and the Pop Warner National Championships this December.

Admission is $15.00. Tickets will be available from the individual squads, at The Times Union Center Box Office, and through Tickets.com. The program is scheduled to begin at 8:15 AM.

Special Youth - $6.00 – for children 4 – 16 will be available through Capital District Pop Warner for pre-sale;  This ticket will NOT be available through TICKETS.COM or BOX OFFICE and will NOT be available on the day of the event. Capital District Pop Warner will consign tickets and sell directly to their member associations.

Regular Ticket -$15.00 - Ticket will be available through Capital District Pop Warner for pre-sale, TICKETS.COM and BOX OFFICE as well as the day of the event. Capital District Pop Warner will also consign tickets to sell to their member associations. This ticket would be available through TICKETS.COM & the Box Office.
